I first built a website on office live just for fun (thankfully).  If you would like to see it and have a giggle. Follow this link . The whole point of this site was to learn about how office live worked and to find out what was possible with the site builder.  The site builder is quite good and easy to use but you are restricted as to design of background etc.  

Other restrictions are you cannot use Google adsense.   The plus points are there are no adverts and you can set up as many email addresses as you wish if you have your own domain.  I submitted the site to google (at the time the sites domain was cunningplanz.com, I have since let this domain expire) and submitted an xml site map so the site would be indexed. The Site was never indexed and I put it down to poor content. 

Earlier this year I decided to build another site on office live. This time I needed it to be indexed and did some research, Unfortunatly after I built the site, I found out that office live use aspx and your home page is always calld "default" Not a problem in it's self but office live redirects to it using a 302 redirect.

Using Google webmaster tools if you try to fetch your home page as google bot does to index you will find that the redirect 302 cannot be followed. and therefore your site will never be indexed. O.K. if you just want a personal site but hopeless if you need to get it seen on search engines. I have since changed the host for the site I built earlier this year and it was indexed within 1 week (all pages). You can visit it here if you wish .
